The Monet Experience - A Night Out

How cute is the invite!
You know those nights you have with someone that you never really get to see? Well in the hustle and bustle of my life my, sadly, Dad is one of those. I’m always in my room trying to “study” (or really watching youtube videos) and I feel that I can’t relax with family members around me as I have so much to do (like find new youtubers…) so when my Dad mentioned that his work was having a work function at the Monet exhibition at the NGV I jumped out of my skin at the chance!

How delicate and gorgeous was the invitation?! Dad let me keep it for my non-glory-glory-box! The little ticket’s too were pretty gorgeous!

I unfortunately wasn’t able to take any photos there, but as it was a cocktail party everyone was dressed so suave and gorgeously! So all the limited photo's I do have are shifty ones on my phone.

What a tag-dag!
I wore my Angel Biba dress, it's one that I’ve had for about 3 or so years now and I'm not sure if the brand it still available. But it was great to be able to take out such nice clothing from my wardrobe as I never get to leave the house all dressed up. So I felt a bit like a princess!

photo's go to Citra's lovely blog here : )

After much deliberation I chose Sportsgirls “Bombshell” (Pictured right) on my lips. It was a light, bright red and though it was a bit out of my comfort zone, there was no lipstick malfunctions and as it turned out, I really like the colour! I wore this with a nice classy make-up look paired with winged eyeliner and straightened hair that I curled towards the ends and flipped over my shoulder. I was also super excited as I wore a Forever 21 bracelet my close friend gave to me for my 18th!
Pictured; the forever 21 bracelet

For once I was actually ready on time! My dad proudly escorted my to the main room where little horderves(is that really how it's spelt?!) were served and the atmosphere was lovely. You know that saying about feeling like a million dollars? well I felt that way that night. I had conversations with many interesting and inspiration people, that weren't just from Australia. That's what made the experience so different! They told me all about their take on art and of Monet. It's like that night I got introduced to  a new culture! and the whole experience was just, great!
The works! Oh the works were brilliant. I don’t get to see much art often, but maybe its because I’m much more interested in the history of the art, and the person behind it. But the change to peruse to my own will, Monet’s allusions and how an artist see’s the world was much to my taste! If you have the chance, please, please do go see it!

I don’t want to ruin the whole experience for those who have yet to see it, there are some unique hands on parts of the little journey and my description will not be enough to describe how amazing the experience of this was, so I guess you’ll just have to go see it yourself! But I must say my favourite part was the very end of the walk where there was a dark room and chairs, and a giant screen that went from the side of the room, to the other. They played calming sounds of Monet’s little house and showed the inside and the beautiful gardens that it is surrounded by. It’s so difficult to explain because the cinematography and the execution of this was simply perfection!
Oh and did I mention the little goody bags? Though, I think these were the classiest I ever saw! Complete with a little Monet miniature and a French Candle, the little surprise at the end of the night simply made it a magical night to remember with my Dad!

Have you seen Monet, attended the exhibition or is there any that you would recommend?!

I just looked up the dates and the exhibition closes on the 8th of September at the NGV (National Gallery of Victoria)

Love, love, love from the crazy classy Lady!

Miss Dior Minatures (Our first year anniversary)

Miss Dior Miniatures (Our first year anniversary)

Is it weird to have an anniversary with a perfume...?
In my recent Favourite video on my Youtube channel I was indeed super excited to introduce three my true love’s of the world to anyone that would listen and since it's one year anniversary together, I thought I would do a special little post on these three Pieces of petit perfection (hows that for alliteration?)
They're so delicate and tiny that they're probably one third of my hand.

As you can tell from the photos I took, (which I think I’m becoming better at as Im quite proud of these) The three bottles of the Miss Dior Miniatures that I own are just magnifique!
I honestly cannot stop looking at them! Rightfully they have their own little special place on my bookshelf because their packaging is just so superb! They remind me of something that should be placed delicately in Burlesque Boudoir or and for one or two, even the Boudoir of a certain French Queen!

The houndstooth print on the bottom of the bottles adds a fashionable quirk, though the print of the numbers and letters takes away from it.

I love the little cute bow that is attached to the lid. When the lid is removed, revealed is little opening for the perfume. (pictured on the right)

Amongst other reasons, this was another addition to the list of why these perfumes were different from any other perfumes I had ever owned. There is no nozzle, just a little dispenser type thing. No spritzing all over the body, but light daps on to the pulse points of the body. For some reason I love this. It makes the whole application process feel much more vintage and I feel like the Perfume is much more of a purer fragrance, which is evident in the longevity of the perfume which lasts longer than any I've ever owned. Oh! and if you hold it upside-down it is designed not to leak! and the label? One word. Perfection!

Hmm! Now which one of the three to start with? Perhaps my favourite? By force I would have to say the Eau de Parfum...But only because it seems to change according to my mood and today I feel like I need some extra Pizzaz!

This one has the atmosphere of the French renaissance to me. I think Marie Antoinette's boudoir, midnight secret walks and late night gambling with champagne, all with the class and sophistication of course!

I am no means an expert in the world of fragrance, but I hope my imagery is aiding in your understanding to why I adore these miniatures! If not, the following in-depth exploration will be sure to aid you!

On the Dior website,  (it will take you to the specific perfume page) the description reads to have being with the;
'sharp charm of fresh fruity, citrus prelude into blossoming floral notes, then on to the noble elegance of patchouli, before finally concluding with musk'

By this it means the top note contains the essence of an Italian Mandarin, the heart note of Arabian Jasmine Absolute and the base note of the essence of Indonesian Patchouli.
Another helpful description given by the website is that of the description's of what the top note, heart note and the core note means:

'The top note is the first olfactory impression and the most volatile.
The heart note is the fragrance's core and lasts for several hours.
The base note lasts the longest and can be perceived in clothing for several months'

As it is a parfum, this is the strongest most long lasting perfume out of the three. It is definetly the most suitable for nights such as dates and events, but I also believe it is a fresh enough scent to wear during the day.

Living up to it's name, the Blooming Bouquet as a 'tender floral' perfume is aimed at 'elegant young ladies' and again as the website notes:

'This delicate floral bouquet, composed of peony accords and subtle sparkling fruity notes, leaves a fresh and elegant signature, with a touch of irreverence'

Much like the first, this very vintage-fresh style scent is perfection for everyday wearing, though probably more so than the Eau de Parfum

The top note is again the Essence of a mandarin which emphasises to me why there is a similar scent link throughout the set. Followed by the heart note of a Peony and the Base Note of White Musk.

And last but not least it is the...(drum roll please!)
Eau de Toilette!

To me, this is the most subtle scent, but oh my, it IS perfection. (Maybe we should count how many times I say perfection...PERFECTION!)
As written on the website;
'In the words of Christian Dior, "I created this perfume to wrap each woman in exquisite femininity, as if each of my designs were emerging from the bottle one by one." Born with the New Look in 1947, the house’s first perfume incarnates the signature of a great designer in the timeless elegance and refinement of a classic green chypre with galbanum and jasmine.'

It's the original scent? WHAT?! My day just improved a whole lot more!

The Top Note in this perfume Galbanum, but the link with the Eau de Parfum is the Heart Note of Jasmine and the Base Note of Patchouli.

All the scents are just so gorgeous and feminine and girly but not too overpowering and definitely not too old or too young! The one downside to this, which is probably the worst would have to be the price. The price here is exuberant. Unless I'm mistaken it pushes over the $200 mark. This means that I have been, for the past year attempting to ration the minimal 5ml bottles I own.

So I encourage that with caution, that you go into your local department store and sniff these cuties out! I have yet to find more miniatures available in store, but I do in my daydreams!

Have you ever tried these superb perfumes? Or even found one similar? Oh! and since I've told you one of my favourite perfumes, tell me what's yours?! I'd love to know and have some recommendations!

My Dress Shopping Encounters//MaddyBeautyLove

My Dress Shopping Encounters

Dress hunting for special occasions can be super duper hard and if you're anything like me, you hate the process of trying on clothes. Taking clothes off, putting clothes on, taking clothes off, putting clothes back on....and so on and so forth.
It's a long, hard, tiring process that usually, for myself at least, ends in my head in the sleeve (Which I never seem to fail to do) or attempting to find my way out of clothing that I swim in. Not just this, but I'm unusually picky. Whether this is derived from my picky eating, being too lazy to try on clothes and possible the fact that I am the most honest (sometimes negative, ask my mum!) clothing critique I know. To even get me looking at clothes is an achievement! This is unless your store name is Alannah hill!

I just thought I'd show you a few sneaky photos (thus I apologise for the horrible quality of the photos) I took in the lovely store of Alannah Hill back in April when trying to find some lovely evening-vintage-esque pieces.

These were taken around the same time I started to watch BBC's Downton Abbey and some pieces, though as you can see were too big; I so badly wanted to buy them so I could prance around my bedroom with an English accent and listening to classical music.

Of course, there were pieces that I tried on for Mama Bears entertainment. This being Much to my dismay. Try and see if you can guess which dresses they were!

Ever since I was introduced to the Alannah Hill designs, I could not  help but just own everything! From the gloves to the hats and especially the tights! What I wouldn't give for those tights! But I have yet to focus my spending on clothing. I find it hard to spend a large amount of money on clothes that must be dry-cleaned...This stopped me from getting a $90 christmas inspired sweater that I would give up my first child for! Drastic, but truthful! Surprisingly, and sadly, I don't have documentation of this piece, though I could describe it down to every strand of its perfect existence! Hopefully it is now with someone with just as loving and as much adoration for the piece as I hold for it!

I think it is obvious to say that I left this attempted shopping trip empty handed. Though I did pick up a few things from other shops (Including a cheaper, less maintenance christmas-y sweater) *Hi-fives all round!

However, since, my mum never fails to nonchalantly remind me of her cardigans, dresses and numerous other pieces she has purchased in the past.

The finest detail is given to each piece, and even the stores are absolutely gorgeous and luxurious!

If I am correct, a good selection of their stuff is made right here in Australia!

Lots and lots of love,

A vlog, an OOTD, and the Boyfriend with my camera...//MaddyBeautyLove

A vlog, an OOTD, and the Boyfriend with my camera

Testing out my facial expressions preparing for the filming I planned for that day.

Yet another very attractive Facial Excercise Practise!

My boyfriend & I enjoyed a winter walk around the neighbourhood in which we tried to catch as much sun as possible!

I feel as though I should get points for going on this walk in heels...and not slipping over!

Just a bit of cam-ception during the filming of my vlog
As well as coaxing him into taking a few snapshots that didn't quite turn out so well.

When we got back I decided I wanted to experiment a lot more with the settings on my camera and I'm actually really happy with how most of them turned out!

He picked this as his favourite.

Though my boyfriend was more impressed with his work with the camera...
(The one on the right is mine)

My and my first apron, mitt and tea-towel set from typo.
(Can be seen fully in my haul)

I've decided to try and perfect the art of heel's and socks. As its commonly noted socks and sandals are not ok, unless it's the apparent trend of Jelly sandals and "hip" socks..(whatonearthiswiththistrend) I tend not to delve in to fashion trends that would set me too far outside my comfort zone, but this look I'm pleased with.

Shoes from Novo & socks from Sportsgirl

Isn't it gorgeous? I feel as sophisticated as Marianne!

Thank you for reading! See you around soon Honey Bunches!
