It starts with a blank page...New Youtube Adventure

It's always nice when you get a good reception on something you took lots of time and effort to work on.
Whilst experimenting with my camera and from the inspiration from certain youtubers, (Im looking at you EMILIYOFNEWGLOOM) I felt inspired to do something different. Outside of beauty video's and Vlogs. Guess what! I think I actually really like it!
It is most definitely my attempt at sounding like I think about other things besides make-up. I hope for others that it is somewhat thought provoking. It was definitely a growing experience for me (it sounds funny I know!)

My little baby stars in her first video
It is the first time many people I know will have seen my play guitar (and yes, though you can't see the body of it, that is the actual sound and video of me picking through some sweet, sweet melodies) but lets be honest here. We're all glad I didn't actually sing!

and of course, what is a video without my practicing my silly faces                                             beforehand? I'm sure you will get used to it one day!

Then the editing begun! I spent quite a long time on this project! I'm so proud on what I came up with, and I was even confident enough to show my parents...They got a bit teary eyed!

Then was the realisation after I had uploaded it to my youtube...I HAD FORGOTTEN MANY CLIPS! Well, isn't that a dilemma? I guess that just means I'll have to make more.... ; )
If you'd like to check out my video, I would be indebted to you forever, and I will make you numerous cups of tea, and buy you lots of kittens! and better yet if you were to help with a little constructive criticism and support! Oh, and of course, check out my Muse's channel! She is utterly divine and I can only strive to reach the level of eloquence that she does! You will be hooked in no time, I promise you!
Here's the link to my video, sit back, relax and enjoy!!

Miss Dior Minatures (Our first year anniversary)

Miss Dior Miniatures (Our first year anniversary)

Is it weird to have an anniversary with a perfume...?
In my recent Favourite video on my Youtube channel I was indeed super excited to introduce three my true love’s of the world to anyone that would listen and since it's one year anniversary together, I thought I would do a special little post on these three Pieces of petit perfection (hows that for alliteration?)
They're so delicate and tiny that they're probably one third of my hand.

As you can tell from the photos I took, (which I think I’m becoming better at as Im quite proud of these) The three bottles of the Miss Dior Miniatures that I own are just magnifique!
I honestly cannot stop looking at them! Rightfully they have their own little special place on my bookshelf because their packaging is just so superb! They remind me of something that should be placed delicately in Burlesque Boudoir or and for one or two, even the Boudoir of a certain French Queen!

The houndstooth print on the bottom of the bottles adds a fashionable quirk, though the print of the numbers and letters takes away from it.

I love the little cute bow that is attached to the lid. When the lid is removed, revealed is little opening for the perfume. (pictured on the right)

Amongst other reasons, this was another addition to the list of why these perfumes were different from any other perfumes I had ever owned. There is no nozzle, just a little dispenser type thing. No spritzing all over the body, but light daps on to the pulse points of the body. For some reason I love this. It makes the whole application process feel much more vintage and I feel like the Perfume is much more of a purer fragrance, which is evident in the longevity of the perfume which lasts longer than any I've ever owned. Oh! and if you hold it upside-down it is designed not to leak! and the label? One word. Perfection!

Hmm! Now which one of the three to start with? Perhaps my favourite? By force I would have to say the Eau de Parfum...But only because it seems to change according to my mood and today I feel like I need some extra Pizzaz!

This one has the atmosphere of the French renaissance to me. I think Marie Antoinette's boudoir, midnight secret walks and late night gambling with champagne, all with the class and sophistication of course!

I am no means an expert in the world of fragrance, but I hope my imagery is aiding in your understanding to why I adore these miniatures! If not, the following in-depth exploration will be sure to aid you!

On the Dior website,  (it will take you to the specific perfume page) the description reads to have being with the;
'sharp charm of fresh fruity, citrus prelude into blossoming floral notes, then on to the noble elegance of patchouli, before finally concluding with musk'

By this it means the top note contains the essence of an Italian Mandarin, the heart note of Arabian Jasmine Absolute and the base note of the essence of Indonesian Patchouli.
Another helpful description given by the website is that of the description's of what the top note, heart note and the core note means:

'The top note is the first olfactory impression and the most volatile.
The heart note is the fragrance's core and lasts for several hours.
The base note lasts the longest and can be perceived in clothing for several months'

As it is a parfum, this is the strongest most long lasting perfume out of the three. It is definetly the most suitable for nights such as dates and events, but I also believe it is a fresh enough scent to wear during the day.

Living up to it's name, the Blooming Bouquet as a 'tender floral' perfume is aimed at 'elegant young ladies' and again as the website notes:

'This delicate floral bouquet, composed of peony accords and subtle sparkling fruity notes, leaves a fresh and elegant signature, with a touch of irreverence'

Much like the first, this very vintage-fresh style scent is perfection for everyday wearing, though probably more so than the Eau de Parfum.

The top note is again the Essence of a mandarin which emphasises to me why there is a similar scent link throughout the set. Followed by the heart note of a Peony and the Base Note of White Musk.

And last but not least it is the...(drum roll please!)
Eau de Toilette!

To me, this is the most subtle scent, but oh my, it IS perfection. (Maybe we should count how many times I say perfection...PERFECTION!)
As written on the website;
'In the words of Christian Dior, "I created this perfume to wrap each woman in exquisite femininity, as if each of my designs were emerging from the bottle one by one." Born with the New Look in 1947, the house’s first perfume incarnates the signature of a great designer in the timeless elegance and refinement of a classic green chypre with galbanum and jasmine.'

It's the original scent? WHAT?! My day just improved a whole lot more!

The Top Note in this perfume Galbanum, but the link with the Eau de Parfum is the Heart Note of Jasmine and the Base Note of Patchouli.

All the scents are just so gorgeous and feminine and girly but not too overpowering and definitely not too old or too young! The one downside to this, which is probably the worst would have to be the price. The price here is exuberant. Unless I'm mistaken it pushes over the $200 mark. This means that I have been, for the past year attempting to ration the minimal 5ml bottles I own.

So I encourage that with caution, that you go into your local department store and sniff these cuties out! I have yet to find more miniatures available in store, but I do in my daydreams!

Have you ever tried these superb perfumes? Or even found one similar? Oh! and since I've told you one of my favourite perfumes, tell me what's yours?! I'd love to know and have some recommendations!

My Dress Shopping Encounters//MaddyBeautyLove

My Dress Shopping Encounters

Dress hunting for special occasions can be super duper hard and if you're anything like me, you hate the process of trying on clothes. Taking clothes off, putting clothes on, taking clothes off, putting clothes back on....and so on and so forth.
It's a long, hard, tiring process that usually, for myself at least, ends in my head in the sleeve (Which I never seem to fail to do) or attempting to find my way out of clothing that I swim in. Not just this, but I'm unusually picky. Whether this is derived from my picky eating, being too lazy to try on clothes and possible the fact that I am the most honest (sometimes negative, ask my mum!) clothing critique I know. To even get me looking at clothes is an achievement! This is unless your store name is Alannah hill!

I just thought I'd show you a few sneaky photos (thus I apologise for the horrible quality of the photos) I took in the lovely store of Alannah Hill back in April when trying to find some lovely evening-vintage-esque pieces.

These were taken around the same time I started to watch BBC's Downton Abbey and some pieces, though as you can see were too big; I so badly wanted to buy them so I could prance around my bedroom with an English accent and listening to classical music.

Of course, there were pieces that I tried on for Mama Bears entertainment. This being Much to my dismay. Try and see if you can guess which dresses they were!

Ever since I was introduced to the Alannah Hill designs, I could not  help but just own everything! From the gloves to the hats and especially the tights! What I wouldn't give for those tights! But I have yet to focus my spending on clothing. I find it hard to spend a large amount of money on clothes that must be dry-cleaned...This stopped me from getting a $90 christmas inspired sweater that I would give up my first child for! Drastic, but truthful! Surprisingly, and sadly, I don't have documentation of this piece, though I could describe it down to every strand of its perfect existence! Hopefully it is now with someone with just as loving and as much adoration for the piece as I hold for it!

I think it is obvious to say that I left this attempted shopping trip empty handed. Though I did pick up a few things from other shops (Including a cheaper, less maintenance christmas-y sweater) *Hi-fives all round!

However, since, my mum never fails to nonchalantly remind me of her cardigans, dresses and numerous other pieces she has purchased in the past.

The finest detail is given to each piece, and even the stores are absolutely gorgeous and luxurious!

If I am correct, a good selection of their stuff is made right here in Australia!

Lots and lots of love,

A vlog, an OOTD, and the Boyfriend with my camera...//MaddyBeautyLove

A vlog, an OOTD, and the Boyfriend with my camera

Testing out my facial expressions preparing for the filming I planned for that day.

Yet another very attractive Facial Excercise Practise!

My boyfriend & I enjoyed a winter walk around the neighbourhood in which we tried to catch as much sun as possible!

I feel as though I should get points for going on this walk in heels...and not slipping over!

Just a bit of cam-ception during the filming of my vlog
As well as coaxing him into taking a few snapshots that didn't quite turn out so well.

When we got back I decided I wanted to experiment a lot more with the settings on my camera and I'm actually really happy with how most of them turned out!

He picked this as his favourite.

Though my boyfriend was more impressed with his work with the camera...
(The one on the right is mine)

My and my first apron, mitt and tea-towel set from typo.
(Can be seen fully in my haul)

I've decided to try and perfect the art of heel's and socks. As its commonly noted socks and sandals are not ok, unless it's the apparent trend of Jelly sandals and "hip" socks..(whatonearthiswiththistrend) I tend not to delve in to fashion trends that would set me too far outside my comfort zone, but this look I'm pleased with.

Shoes from Novo & socks from Sportsgirl

Isn't it gorgeous? I feel as sophisticated as Marianne!

Thank you for reading! See you around soon Honey Bunches!

Rimmel London 'Wake Me Up Foundation' Review //MaddyBeautyLove

When a product is raved about in the beauty-blog-spehere, usually the price range of this said thing is astronomical to a high school teenager.

This is why like many others, I am a hawk when it comes to finding a good sale as I am that said person mentioned above. So after hearing the amazing Zoe (Zoella) and many others rave about Rimmel London's 'Wake Me Up Foundation', after I used up the Covergirl Nature Luxe Liquid Silk Foundation as an excuse to buy another foundation. After I found it on sale of course!

This I bought for I believe it was 15 or so dollars on sale from Safeway, (it will never be "Woolworths" in my heart) not knowing the original RRP I cannot make a perfect judgement, however the price of this I am aware, is expensive for Rimmel London as a "drugstore" but also as the brand.

My skin type:
Normal. I have an array of freckles, with the occasional teenage collection of trademarks.

The foundation has a very orange-y undertone that can become very obvious if not blended in around the hairline and the neck areas. However I mistakingly got True Ivory 103, which was one shade darker than what I should have purchased.

Thus I had mini-attacks of asking my mum, my friends "is it blended in?"& " Do I look orange?". This is something that I couldn't just throw on and rush out the door, time is essential if you want it to look natural on your skin.

It wasn't  a foundation that I felt "in my skin in" but it did the job. I think the constancy was smooth and silky similar to Covergirl's Nature Luxe foundation. I also noticed it had a nice coverage like the Covergirl foundation. However the Nature Luxe foundation has a darker more natural colour pay-off than the strong orange tone of this foundation.

I have begun to apply one coat, let my skin absorb that, continue to my eye make-up, then following applying my mascara, I have applied an extra coat of foundation...Bad, I know. But once you're in the habit it's very hard to stop!

This Foundation made me realise that the routine I had adopted of:

  1. Applying a thin layer of foundation.
  2. While the foundation sinks in to my skin, continuing my eye make-up.
  3. Then to follow the mascara with another layer of foundation in order to correct any mistakes or any hand marks I would've made whilst leaning with my hand on my face.
With this foundation, I realised that this routine needed to be trashed. Though that doesn't mean that it didn't work well with other foundations but with the 'Wake Me Up Foundation', The one application was enough to give my skin good coverage where unlike other foundations; freckles and other blemishes were visible.

So now that you've seen how it looks on my wrist, you can imagine how a second coat made my face look if a second layer is applied. Imagining it? Maybe stop. If it's too much to handle.

The packaging is possibly what actually appealed to me the most. It's clear, straight bottle gives of the resonance of sophistication and the pop of colour from the orange just gives it some more "oomph". I love the idea of the pump, as it's like Nars Sheer-glow and Mac's liquid foundations, though I'm not sure how I will be able to completely finish the product as squeezing it out is not an option. I've seen a method where you put the bottle in warm water which separates the product from the packaging, but I have yet to find out.

The smell though I don't dislike it, I could definitely go without it. It would've been pleasant to compete with the fatigue of the morning with some zesty, alive, fruity smells. But the scent didn't provoke an "anti-affigue" effect in me.

I appreciate the SPF 15 and the Radiant Glow it gives off on my skin, with the help of other products it does aid me in not looking so much a zombie, but very much a lucky teen who got sleep the night before.

Overall, though the foundation is not disappointing, I would not re-purchase it again (in the right shade next time!) due to the fact that I am still experimenting with what is really effective for my skin type and until I find that holy grail foundation, I don't have a need for a foundation asks for too much more than a minimal.

Have you tried the Wake Me Up Foundation? What are your thoughts?!

(Breathes a sigh of relief) It was good to get this post off my chest!
Thank you so much for reading!!

Revamp the Trash

I'm not going to lie, I wrote a few posts a couple months back and never thought anything of them, so I left them in the "Un-posted pile" thinking they were nothing of value. Maybe it was a slight unconfident or a "why bother" but I try to ignore that defeatist attitude. It was only just now that I was able to acquire some free time that I read a few up and coming posts and decided there was something to them. So here I am going through the trash pile and revamping in the name of blogging!

Wish me luck!!
